Francisco Bielsa was born in 1959 in Madrid, Spain. He earned a degree in architecture from the Universidad Central de Venezuela in 1982. Since 1984 he has taught architectural design there and at Universidad José María Vargas. He collaborated with renowned Venezuelan architects as Carlos Gomez de Llarena and Moises Benacerraf on the Cristóbal Rojas Visual Arts School and Union Bank Tower projects, and with Jimmy Alcock on the Kavac House in Caracas. In 1989 and 1990, he traveled to New York to work with Richard Meier on his city hall and library project for The Hague, Netherlands.
